I’m having trouble displaying thumbnails.

The feed I’m trying to display is https://books.thewritepractice.com/feed and displaying it on the sidebar of https://thewritepractice.com/blog

I’ve tried used a couple of different plugins on books.thewritepractice.com to ensure images are appearing in the feed (RSS feed with featured images | RSS Chimp and Featured Images in RSS for Mailchimp & More). Have both turned on now so you can see.

I’ve checked the feed and it appears that images are correctly appearing in the code.

No luck though. Any ideas?

Hi Joe,

I tried the same RSS feed and I can see the thumbnails on my site out of the box. Please see the image below.

Plase check if you have enabled “show thumbnail if present” under the “general” tab.

Yes, of course. When I’ve uploaded a default image, that has worked as well. It’s only the thumbnails from the feed that are not appearing.

Hi Joe,

Under “content” tab, can you please set “Fetch thumbnail from page directly” to “no”?

The thubmnail works fine on my test site. There is no reason for it not work.
Can you please create a temporary admin account and share it’s credentials in my contact form? – https://www.aakashweb.com/contact/. I’ll login and what is the issue.

Setting “Fetch thumbnail from page directly” to “no” worked! Why is that?

Hi,

When the feed item does not have any thumbnail, we can use that option to fetch the image directly from the page.

In your case, the feed item has the image, but not the page. Hence setting “Fetch thumbnail from page directly” to “no” worked.
