What is the use of this plugin ?

You can use this plugin to insert anything in your sidebar. Some suggestions are,

  • Advertisements javascript codes (eg: Google adsense, Buysellads, adbrite etc)
  • Add Facebook Like Box, Google Friend Connect widget etc.
  • Flash items (eg: Youtube videos, JW Players, Slideshows, flash games made by you etc)
  • Insert any shortcodes inside the widget.
  • Link any files like CSS Stylesheets, Javascript files, libraries etc.
  • Social sharing buttons javascript codes (eg: AddThis, shareThis, addtoany, tell-a-friend etc)
  • Write any announcements, some navigation links etc.
  • And more according to your needs.

Installation

  1. Extract the zipped file and upload the folder html-javascript-adder to to /wp-content/plugins/ directory.
  2. Activate the plugin through the ‘Plugins’ menu in WordPress.
  3. Go to the Widgets settings page.
  4. Drag the “HTML Javascript Adder” from the “Available widgets” to your sidebar.
  5. That’s all.

Usage

  1. Just add a widget.
  2. Enter the title and required content.
  3. Check the boxes present below to show/hide the widget in specific pages.
  4. Click save.

    i do not find any disable-button for “hja_disable_linkback”.
    There is no checkbox at this widget.

      There is no button for each and every widget. You can see a check box at the bottom of the widget page

            If you want to disable the “?” mark in the widget then check the box at the bottom of the page. In this case, the code is correct.

      Currently, the widget can be hidden from admins (for advertisements – accidental clicks etc) . But showing it only to admins is of no use and there is no option in this plugin currently. Anyway the next version can have this feature as you recommend

      Please note that the page has two IDs i.e there are two text boxes with the id “email” . So it will not work. Try adding a class and checking out.
      Also this is not an issue with HTML Javascript Adder

          Your page has two textboxes in the sidebar with ID as email. So this javascript will not work. In the preview page there is no other box with id as email so it works there.

          The code you are using is correct. But i think there are some restrictions in your page settings. Try configuring your page settings. The code is correct but it is not working anywhere.. So its not a prob with HJA. Check this page http://jsfiddle.net/4BX8C/embedded/result/

      If your script is right then it will execute properly. Check for closing
      tags and other things properly.

    Great clear plugin. 1 problem, changes are not applying, if the page has already been visited! The changes are only applied on new visited pages! Reload, refresh doesn’t help. Only the clear history will apply the changes on a earlier visited page. Any solution for that?

        It’s not compatible with WP 3.3 — all my upgraded sites now need the sidebars redesigned because Javascript Adder won’t work in multiple instances any more.  When will you be upgrading to be compatible?  Thank you.

      Just go to the widgets page after activating the plugin. There u will see a new widget. Just drag it and use it !

    Javascript adder.  I am very upset. It doesn’t seem to work in WordPress 3.3.
    It’s supposed to allow multiple instances in the sidebar. Now, in 3.3, if you put more than one instance, only the top (first) one works, the others don’t show up at all. Any news on an update for this plugin, so it will work in 3.3?  Thank you.

    Is there a limit on how many times this can be used in sidebars? I have 20+ sidebars, but this plugin has stopped working after 14 uses. Why is this?

      No, it should not happen. WordPress widget API allows unlimited widgets. So HJA will also allow unlimited widgets.

    Hi there, I’m just wondering if you’ve heard of anyone installing this then shortcode not converting to HTML when posts are previewed/published? I’m helping my friend with their site, and this is the last plug-in they can remember installing, and captions and other shortcode doesn’t seem to work now (captions and other shortcode appears as code on published pages, rather than intended HTML output). I was thinking of deactivating the plug-in to see if it had any effect, but don’t want to do that in case it causes problems on the site. Thanks for your help!

    Hi Aakash – how can I download version 3.5 please?

    I did an automatic upgrade to 3.6 but when I click on Appearance –> Widgets it now lists all ofmy posts in the admin panel . That’s almost 2,000 posts.

    I’d like to reduce the left margin of the white box, in order to contain a wide banner (380×300). The height is ok, but the width is over and i loose the last part of my banner.

    Hello. Great plugin — but I really need to hide the widget by PAGE id (not just post ID) … I was not successful in hacking this. Do you think you could add this functionality (probably easy for you) and update to 3.7? … this would really make my day. Relying on your plugin extensively, it’s great besides this missing feature.
