Retweet button + Bit.ly

Postby sinc13 » Tue Dec 20, 2011 5:34 pm

Hi,

Is Bit.ly integration supposed to work with the retweet service?

On our page, http://wp.settlementatwork.org/_event_/93536, the Tweet button shows the full URL. However, clicking on the Share -> Twitter button in the Addthis box shows a bit.ly URL.

Is it possible to get the bit.ly URLs to work the the Tweet button?

Thanks

Hello,

Thanks for using WP Socializer.

Actually, you are using the default URL as "blah" .

I still dunno, how that "blah" came as the page URL !
I am seeing this code,
Code: Select all
<!-- Start WP Socializer Plugin - Retweet Button -->
<a href="http://twitter.com/share" class="twitter-share-button" data-count="none" data-via='SetAtWork' data-lang="en"  data-url=************blah*************></a>
<!-- End WP Socializer Plugin - Retweet Button -->

Please report some more details for getting the bug ....

Hey,

Sorry, I was just playing around with the code and forgot to change it back. I've changed it back to the way it was before.

The code is now
Code: Select all
<!-- Start WP Socializer Plugin - Retweet Button -->
<a href="http://twitter.com/share" class="twitter-share-button" data-count="none" data-via='SetAtWork' data-lang="en"  data-url="http://wp.settlementatwork.org/_event_/93536"></a>
<!-- End WP Socializer Plugin - Retweet Button -->

How do we get it to show a Bit.ly URL instead? (Actually, we want to use a custom short domain saw.gd instead of bit.ly)

Thanks!

Twitter currently uses its own URL shortener (http://t.co) for shortening links. So there is no way of using http://bit.ly in the Twitter's official buttons.

For more details, you can refer this page: https://dev.twitter.com/docs/tweet-button/faq#custom-shortener

Thank you.
